App Store Compliance Guide

This document outlines the changes needed for the Just Rent Heavy app to comply with Apple App Store guidelines.

1. Privacy Policy Updates

We've updated our privacy policy to comply with Apple App Store guidelines. The key changes include:

  • Added specific information about data collection categories aligned with Apple's privacy nutrition labels
  • Included details about how we handle App Tracking Transparency
  • Added information about third-party services (Firebase, Cashfree)
  • Clarified our account deletion process and data retention policies
  • Updated language to reference Apple App Store guidelines

2. Account Deletion Mechanism

Apple requires apps that support account creation to also offer account deletion within the app. We've updated our account deletion page to:

  • Provide clear information about what happens when an account is deleted
  • Explain our data retention policies after account deletion
  • Implement a direct account deletion mechanism (rather than email-based)

3. App Privacy Details (Privacy Nutrition Label)

For App Store submission, you'll need to provide the following privacy details:

Data Types Collected:

  • Contact Info: Phone numbers, names (for authentication and direct contact)
  • Location: Coarse location (city level only)
  • User Content: Equipment photos and descriptions
  • Identifiers: User IDs for authentication
  • Usage Data: App interactions, subscription management
  • Purchase History: Subscription information

Data Usage:

  • App Functionality: Authentication, equipment listings, direct calls
  • Analytics: Basic usage statistics
  • Product Personalization: City-based filtering

Data Linked to User:

All collected data is linked to user identity for providing the core service.

Data Used for Tracking:

No data is used for tracking users across apps and websites owned by other companies.

4. App Implementation Requirements

Your mobile app developer will need to implement the following:

  • App Tracking Transparency: If any tracking occurs, implement the ATT framework to request user permission
  • In-App Account Deletion: Create a direct account deletion function within the app
  • Age Verification: Add simple confirmation that users are 18+ during registration
  • Permission Requests: Implement proper permission requests with clear explanations for location access
  • Data Security: Ensure all data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS
  • Subscription Implementation: Implement the subscription model (₹299 per month for listing up to 5 machines) using Apple's in-app purchase system
  • Browse Without Login: Ensure users can browse listings without requiring registration or login

5. Critical Issues from Previous Rejections

IMPORTANT: Your app was previously rejected for the following specific issues that MUST be addressed:

Support URL Issue

The Support URL provided in App Store Connect was not functional.

Solution: We have created a dedicated support page at /support. Make sure to update the Support URL in App Store Connect to point to this page.

Account Deletion Functionality

The app did not include an option to initiate account deletion.

Solution: Your app developer must implement a direct in-app account deletion feature. This cannot be just a link to a website or an email form. Users must be able to delete their accounts directly within the app.

Requiring Login for Non-Account Features

The app required users to register before browsing products.

Solution: Your app must allow users to browse equipment listings without requiring registration or login. Registration should only be required for account-based features like creating listings or contacting owners.

Business Model Clarification

Apple requested additional information about your business model.

Solution: We have created a detailed business model document at /business-model that answers all of Apple's questions. Reference this document when responding to App Review.

6. Next Steps

  1. Share this document with your mobile app developer

  3. Update the Support URL in App Store Connect to point to your new support page
  4. Prepare the privacy nutrition label information for App Store submission
  5. Test the account deletion functionality thoroughly
  6. Ensure users can browse listings without requiring login
  7. When responding to App Review, reference your business model document
  8. Submit your app to the App Store
